Neck organ transplant in Gliwice recognized as the best in the world

The American Society for Reconstructive and Microvascular Surgery has recognized the neck organ transplant performed at the Gliwice Oncology Center as the best in microvascular surgery in 2016.

The transplant was carried out by a team ofół under the leadership of prof. Adam Maciejewski. The operation lasted 17 hours and involved the throat, larynx, trachea, esophagus, thyroid gland, as well as muscular structures and skóhand. Everything has gone according to plan.

The 37-year-old patient had undergone a kidney transplant, suffered from acute myeloid leukemia and was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer.
